How many Reflexology sessions will I need?

  • Monthly sessions up to 28 weeks
  • Fortnightly sessions up to 36 weeks
  • Weekly sessions up to 40 weeks

This is a guide but as I’m often asked I thought it would be useful information.

Reflexology is a safe, effective and deeply relaxing treatment to receive throughout your pregnancy. Reflexology treatments can help the body’s systems to regulate themselves and thereby encourage a natural uncomplicated pregnancy and a timely delivery – mothers who have regular pregnancy reflexology are much less likely to need a medical induction.

Pregnancy can be a challenging time in many ways and regular reflexology treatments can provide you with valuable mental, physical and emotional support through every trimester. Pregnancy reflexology can help you feel more comfortable, healthy and calm so that both your mind and your body are in good condition in preparation for the birth. It offers you the opportunity to regularly take time out to nurture both yourself and your developing baby.

Many midwives recommend reflexology as a useful tool throughout pregnancy and to prepare for labour. Research has shown that women receiving reflexology treatments during pregnancy had shorter labours and required less pain relief. 

Reflexology is safe to use throughout pregnancy and aims to optimse the physical and emotional health.  It can also help provide relief from many of the discomforts associated with pregnancy such as:

  • morning sickness/nausea
  • headaches
  • backache
  • pain and discomfort
  • stress and anxiety
  • digestive issues/constipation
  • heartburn
  • fatigue
  • insomnia

Reflexology may be a great support at this time bringing about deep relaxation and creating a sense of well-being.
